Urban Hacking, Hacktivism & Culture Jamming

Daniel Koening 2005

This talk will explore many questions like

  • What is your understanding of hacktivism?
  • What about hacker's ethics?
  • What responsibilities do we have to use geek-tools to create a better living for all of us?
  • What technical and creative possibilities do we have to spread the word about topics that are important to us? (Like Censorship, Freedom of Expression, Surveillance, Data Privacy/Data Mining, RFID, TCPA)
A short overview of the activities of the German/European Hacker scene, the "Chaos Computer Club" and other projects by like-minded organisations will also be presented. Everyone will be invited to ask questions and discuss these issues for the second part of the talk.
